Come out and support slow food for everyone in Louisville! New Root’s Fresh Stop Project is a bi-weekly fresh local food stop that connects low-income Slow Food eaters with affordable food from Kentucky farmers. All shares are prepaid and available for a sliding scale of $12 for EBT/Food Stamp users and others who meet income eligibility requirements for WIC and $25 for all others. We are looking for people who can buy shares for $25 as this helps subsidize the lower income shares. Everyone benefits from this arrangement as the bounty increases with increased dollars. We are also looking for volunteers to come out before and after the Fresh Stops to sort produce, greet shareholders, and share knowledge on cooking from scratch. Call Karyn Moskowitz at 502.475.8979 or email email@example.com. Cash donations to New Roots are needed and welcomed as well!
The next Shawnee Neighborhood Fresh Stop is Thursday, July 21st, 4:30-6:30 PM, at 37th and River Park Drive at Redeemer Lutheran Church. The Fresh Stops will continue every other Thursday until the end of October, or until the KY produce runs out! For more information visit New Root’s Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/newroots.
