About the Job:

To support our mission, Slow Food hosts a beer tent booth at the Forcastle Festival. We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, organized, person to manage the volunteers, finances, and day-to-day operations of the beer tent.  The ideal candidate will be a self-driven, attention to detail person that can provide outstanding customer service for our customers while providing support to our volunteers. This is a wonderful opportunity for a person interested in supporting the slow food movement and interested in making a little extra cash.

 


Duties & Responsibilities

Event tasks:

  • Train and monitor the volunteers during the festival

  • Count in and out each day, starting bank and ending bank

  • Manage inventory counts at open and close of booth

  • Manage cash counts throughout the day providing Spectrum with money drop deposits upon request and cleaning out SFB cash tip jars and depositing in booth safe

  • Be on call with personal cell phone during the weekend for board members and volunteers to contact you

  • Stay organized and perform duties in a busy and possibly hectic environment

 

Pre event and post event tasks:

  • Manage all Communicating with Spectrum Concessions

  • Coordinate with Administrative Coordinator regarding volunteers

  • Work with Board members on beer tent display and slow food collateral

  • Organize volunteer contact information and share with board member volunteers

  • Organize breaks for yourself by contacting Board Members to fill in

  • Deliver Money to bank at the end of each evening and deposit in Night Deposit Box

Key Qualities:

 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and provide a valid drivers license

  • Ability to move quickly between various tasks

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to take initiative

Education/Experience:

  • Experience in accounting, management, retail or customer service

  • Food service or event experience a plus

Physical Demands and Appearance:

  • Stand for up to 4 hours at a time

  • Walking and running required

  • Lift and carry up to 20 pounds

  • No uniform is required, though slow food bluegrass representatives are expected to dress in a professional manner

This is a Contract Labor position.

Pay $500 including weekend of festival, pre and post work.
