Roots & Shoots Kentucky Day of Peace – September 14th

Following Dr. Jane Goodall’s lead as a UN Messenger of Peace, members and friends of Roots & Shoots are called to celebrate peace each year in honor of the United Nations International Day of Peace.

This year we are planning the first Louisville Roots & Shoots Day of Peace Celebration in order to include community partners in celebrating peace. This event will be held at Waterfront Park on Wednesday, September 14th from 4:00-8:00 pm.

Activities include: peace dove parade, kids crafts and interactive activities, musicians and entertainment, presentation and displays from many local organizations who support humanitarian and environmental efforts (peace education, reforestation and habitat restoration, conflict resolution, fair trade, social justice, animal welfare and conservation, International affairs, sustainable food production, community advocacy), food and goods vendors who work with fair trade and sustainable products.

Participants include: Americana Community Center, Family Emergency Shelter, Ali Center, Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve, Yew Dell Gardens, Louisville Zoo, Peace Education Program, The Center for Women and Families, Solutions to Violence, Louisville Peace Action Community, Veterans for Peace, Louisville Free Public Library, Just Creations, Breaking New Grounds, Kentucky Humane Society, Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky, Food Literacy Project at Oxmoor Farm, Shine Louisville, ChildrensNatureGuide, Mama’s Hip, Amazing Green Planet, Henna Hands, Morel’s Vegan Food Truck, Lil’ Cheezers Food Truck, San Diego Sandwich Works, Heine Brothers’ Coffee, Roobie Red Tea, Fresh Start Growers’ Supply, Grasshopper Distribution, Carmichael’s Bookstore, The Local Guys, Squallis Puppeteers, John Gage, Troubadours of Divine Bliss
