Food Literacy Project Volunteer Workday – October 20

Saturday, October 20th from 10am-1pm

Join us the Food Literacy Project in the garden to help spruce up our outdoor classroom. Come prepared to work outside and get dirty. The event includes passed appetizers and a five-course dinner, with paired wines during the seated courses courtesy of Horseshoe Bend Vineyard and Winery.

Proceeds from the dinner will support the expansion of the Food Literacy Project’s experiential education programming on Oxmoor Farm, including the development of a new learning center.

Seasonal ingredients will be provided by Field Day Family Farm, the 8-acre eastern Louisville farm that plays host to the Food Literacy Project, along with Burton’s Maplewood Farm, Fiedler Family Farms, Foxhollow Farm, Grasshoppers Distribution, Grateful Greens, and Harned Ranch Beef Co.

(Fall is the best time to apply compost to your garden!!)

9:30am- 12 noon
2100 Woodland Ave. (near 22nd & Woodland)

Bulk compost $15/barrel, $25/scoop, and $50-100/ truckload depending on your truck
Sifted compost $25/ barrel
Redworms for composting, and Worm compost are also available ($2/lb if more than 10lbs.)
BYO Truck or containers– we’ll fill them up. Delivery available for a fee if you call ahead.
